Amazon Relay Update: Changes to Weather-Related Rejections - 9/30/26

Published on September 30, 2025 at 8:17 PM

Starting today, September 30, 2025, Amazon Relay is making some updates to how carriers can handle work rejections due to weather conditions. These changes are designed to clarify when and how weather-related rejections can be used, while ensuring safety and fairness for all drivers.

What’s Changing?

  • Weather-related rejections will no longer be available for contract blocks.

 What’s Staying the Same?

  • Weather-related rejections will still be available for individual loads/VRIDs.

  • When you reject a load for weather, Amazon will validate the conditions against its systems.

  • Valid weather rejections will not impact your performance score.

What This Means for You

If driving conditions are unsafe because of weather, you’ll still have the option to reject individual loads/VRIDs using the “Weather” rejection code.

However, beginning next week, you will no longer see the “Weather” option when rejecting at the block level.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reject loads for weather issues after this change?

Wait until individual loads/VRIDs are assigned, then reject them using the “Weather” rejection code.

What if I know severe weather will affect my entire block?

For major weather events, Amazon may proactively cancel affected loads. If loads are still assigned, reject each one individually using the “Weather” code. You can also contact ROC if you need immediate assistance.

Will this change affect my ability to reject loads during genuine weather concerns?

No. You’ll still have the ability to reject individual loads due to weather without any performance penalty. This change only applies to block-level rejections.

What alternatives do I have for block-level rejections?

Other rejection codes remain available for block-level rejections, including:

  • DOT inspection

  • Driver attrition

  • Driver personal conflict

  • Driver type mismatch

  • Hours of service

  • Incorrect equipment type

  • Low payment rates

  • Mechanical breakdown (tractor)

  • Medical issues

  • Overbooked

  • Wrong domicile allocation

Weather-related concerns, however, should now be handled at the individual load level.

⚠️As a Final Reminder

  • Effective immediately: Weather rejections are no longer available for contract blocks.

  • Still available: Weather rejections for loads/VRIDs (validated and performance-safe).

Your safety is always the priority. When in doubt, reject unsafe loads due to weather and Amazon will support valid decisions.
